Volunteer Opportunity: Bryant Science Fair Mentor- Winter Quarter 2015
Share your enthusiasm for science by serving as a Science Fair Mentor for students at Bryant Elementary School. As a Scientist Mentor, you will develop and lead a project related to your field of expertise with a small group of 4th/5th graders. Once a week, you will meet with your group to work on your science project and guide students in the most important parts of the scientific process: conducting background research, formulating a question or hypothesis, developing appropriate experiments, analyzing results, and drawing/communicating conclusions. This is your opportunity to share your learning and experience, be a team leader and inspire future scientists!
Excellent communication skills, consistent weekly attendance and some volunteer experience working with young people are desirable. All Science Fair Mentors will attend an orientation which occurs at the beginning of the first session. Science Fair mentors are supported by the Science Fair Coordinator and 4/5 grade teacher teams.
