Environment Fwd: DEOHS Graduate Student Field Trip Driver Positions

The Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences is hiring 2 Graduate Student Assistants to serve as van drivers for 3 field trips in Autumn quarter 2013. The field trips are part of ENV H 431 Sampling and Analysis I, taught by Dr. Chris Simpson.

The field trips are on 1 Wednesday and 2 Mondays (Oct 16th, Nov. 4th, Nov 18th), from 1:00 – 4:00. The Student Assistants will meet the undergraduates enrolled in the course at the South Campus Parking Lot, where they will pick up reserved UCAR minivans or 4X4s. · 3 three hour driving shifts – 1:00pm – 4:00pm on the following dates: October 16th, November 4th, November 18th.

· 1 one hour basic driver training (online)

Required Qualifications:
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Minimum 2 years driving experience
  • Comfortable driving a 7 passenger minivan or 4X4 suburban.

The field trips are part of ENV H 431 Sampling and Analysis I, taught by Dr. Chris Simpson. The Student Assistants will meet the undergraduates enrolled in the course at the South Campus Parking Lot, where they will pick up reserved UCAR minivans or 4X4s. They will then drive the undergraduates to the following locations:

Wed October 16th: Beacon Hill Air Monitoring Station (Seattle)
Mon November 4th: Washington State Public Health Laboratory (Shoreline)
Mon November 18th: Seattle Public Utilities Water Quality Lab (Seattle)

The Student Assistants will accompany the undergraduates on a tour of each facility. Ideally, the Student Assistants will have some interest and/or knowledge about the work that goes on at each facility. At the end of the tour the Student Assistants will drive the undergraduates back to the South Campus Parking Lot.
