The scheduled Distinguished Lecturer is Pankaj Kumar Pande, Director of Reservoir Technology/Reservoir Characterization for Anadarko Petroleum Corporation, will present the lecture entitled

“Shale Resource Assessment and Development-Full Life Cycle Integrated Approach”.

A short description:

Key issues and uncertainties in shale resource development are resolved as plays move from resource assessment to full scale development utilizing a full life-cycle integrated approach essential for value creation and ensuring growth in production and reserves, The design, planning, and implementation of systematic and scalable Field Demonstrations are essential elements required to address strategic, development, and operational issues. Mechanistic studies are used to understand the key production drivers. This presentation demonstrates the application of new processes and advances which are key to appraisal and development of global shale resources.

Bio:

P.K. Pande is Director of Reservoir Technology/ Reservoir Characterization for Anadarko Petroleum Corporation. His responsibilities include managing an integrated team of subsurface professionals in application of subsurface technologies and best practices for Deepwater and Unconventional resources worldwide.

The American Geosciences Institute, a non-profit federation of 48
geoscientific and professional associations, seeks a policy staff member
for the Critical Issues Program, a new initiative to improve the flow of
geoscience information to policy makers. This position offers
considerable scope to shape the development of the program.

Primary duties and responsibilities include: creating and maintaining a
web-based hub for relevant, timely, understandable geoscience
information on critical issues; developing content for the web site;
fostering communication between geoscientists, geo-engineers, and policy
makers by organizing forums, workshops, and other events; coordinating
publications; and providing support to member societies and the
geoscience community for policy-related activities.

The preferred candidate will have an M.S. or Ph.D. in the geosciences; a
strong, proven interest in promoting awareness and use of the
geosciences in the policy process; exceptional, demonstrable, written,
online, and oral communication and organizational skills; the ability to

COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

The American Geosciences Institute (AGI), a non-profit federation of 48
geoscience societies, seeks a new Communication and Member Society
Services Manager to oversee the relationship between AGI and its
Members. This position will provide a wide range of opportunities for
the successful candidate to work with individuals from across the
wide-range of geoscience organizations.

Primary duties and responsibilities include: writing and disseminating
press releases and monthly updates on behalf of AGI and its member
societies; facilitating collaborative opportunity between geoscience
organizations; promoting and advertising both AGI and Member Society
programs and events via all sources of social media (Facebook, Twitter,
LinkedIn, and YouTube); Producing a quarterly online newsletter on the
happenings in the geoscience profession for society membership; and
coordinating AGI.s presence at domestic and international conferences.

The preferred candidate will have exceptional, and demonstrable, written
and oral communication and organizational skills, and a familiarity with
social media communications. A degree in the geosciences is strongly
preferred.
