1. TUTORS NEEDED- ESRM and Earth Space and Sciences

ESRM 100 Introduction to Environmental Science (5) I&S/NW
Covers the importance of the environment in society with particular emphasis on worldwide distribution and uses of resources, the role of natural and man-made environments, and causes of environmental degradation. Introduces ethics of conservation and recycling.

ESS 202 Earthquakes (5) I&S/NW

Earthquakes of the Pacific Northwest and around the world – their

cause and relationship to plate tectonics; why, where, and when they occur. How earthquakes affect human life: shaping landscape, hazards. Laboratory explores physical processes associated with earthquakes.

ESS 305 Geology of the National Parks (5) NW Reviews a wide

range of fundamental geological processes, using North American parks

and monuments as examples of natural laboratories. Includes plate-tectonic history, volcanism, mountain-building, and glacial, fluvial, and a host of other geomorphic forces as preserved in geologic exposures of National Parks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Content tutor student-athletes in specific discipline, complete online reports after each session, attend study skills and training throughout the quarter, and assist students with developing quarterly study plans.

Minimum Qualifications:

Tutoring experience is helpful, but we will train you. Must be a patient communicator with ability to both explain material and test for comprehension. Minimum 3.3 or higher GPA in courses you would like to tutor, good study skills, professional work ethic and attitude. Additionally, tutors must be able to balance tutoring appointments with own class schedule.

Tutors are able to sit in on classes (Faculty Liaisons only), work with professors, gain experience as an educator, and develop interpersonal communication skills.

Application deadline for Winter 2013: January 4, 2013 (extended deadline) pay rates are aligned with union pay scale. Pay depends on degree status and experience. Students and non-students are welcome to apply for position. Work Study students are encouraged to apply.
