|The UW Graduate School’s Core Programs sends out relevant events, resources and opportunities directly to current graduate students and postdoctoral fellows bi-weekly. (GPA/GPCs: No need to re-post to your students, unless you want to emphasize a particular item!)
"When what you are deeply passionate about, what you can be best in the world at and what drives your economic engine come together, not only does your work move toward greatness, but so does your life. For, in the end, it is impossible to have a great life unless it is a meaningful life. And it is very difficult to have a meaningful life without meaningful work. Perhaps, then, you might gain that rare tranquility that comes from knowing that you’ve had a hand in creating something of intrinsic excellence that makes a contribution.”
The path to finding meaningful work includes exploration, experience, self-reflection and skill-building and is a different journey for everyone. Please join other UW graduate students and postdocs in these upcoming professional development events co-sponsored by the Graduate School, the Career Center, and the Alumni Association. These events provide the opportunity to gain:
Scholars’ Studio: Another way to explore meaningful work is through creative exchange with other graduate students and postdocs from across campus. Quarterly, we host a Scholars’ Studio with the UW Libraries Research Commons to showcase lightning talks from graduate students and postdocs around a common theme. There is still time to submit your work for consideration in the Winter Scholars’ Studio: Disaster Research @the Commons (due January 30, 5 p.m.)! For more information and to submit a proposal →.
Core Programs Winter Workshops: We have more workshops coming up focusing on funding resources, presentation skills, writing and publishing, concept mapping (cool new tools!), and effective and professional use of social media. You can now view the full winter quarter schedule of workshops.
