Rock stars, ESStronauts,

Rockin’ Out is ESS’s student organized/run outreach group. We send volunteers to K-12 schools statewide (though usually in the Seattle area) for science nights, and in-class lessons about many different Earth and/or Space science topics. Thanks to Space Grant we supply a UCAR, and materials, we just need YOU to volunteer.

We have a few volunteer opportunities coming up:

GirlFest 2012: October 20, 2012 from 10am-5pm @ CenturyLink Field (1 volunteer already, looking for 1+ more)

Two in-class visits: Identifying Rocks lesson/nature walk with 6th graders at the Open Window School on Cougar Mountain, near Bellevue, likely a workday after Sept. 17th, dates/times still flexible (looking for 4+ volunteers)

A science night/walkathon on September 28th 2:30-5 PM at an elementary school in Bellevue. This event is SPACE-THEMED, so we will be doing our "Investigating Planets" lab, and a volunteer with a space-science background is encouraged (2+ volunteers)

Interested but can’t commit? RSVP TO GET ON THE ess_outreach LISTSERV, then come to our Interest Meeting which will be the first week of classes.

ps. Nathan, can you please forward this to the undergrad/geoclub listserv?
