Dear Sustainable Energy Manager,

The Department for Communities & Local Government has announced new guidelines and financial incentives which is part of a shake-up allowing local authorities to keep all business rates income from renewable energy projects. This will help encourage local councils to host new projects including Energy from Waste.

The Environmental Services Association’s (ESA) Policy Director, Matthew Farrow has said the new proposals “may be beneficial in encouraging some local authorities to consider the merits of energy-from-waste schemes”. However, he also added: “Given the need for new waste infrastructure across the waste hierarchy, the government has missed a trick by restricting these incentives to energy-from-waste plants rather than any facility which contributes to landfill diversion and/or higher recycling rates”.

To hear more about these developments from ESA plus many more, attend the fifth annual Energy from Waste conference where you will also evaluate the current EfW landscape in the UK via recent case studies, success stories, proposed plant projects and regulatory updates.
