TEACH Student Roundtable — 1pm, Friday, May 6th
The Associated Students of University of Washington Pacific Islander Student Commission presents:
TEACH Student Roundtable
1pm, Friday, May 6th
UW Ethnic Cultural Center
Only one percent of teachers across the county are Asian Americans or Pacific Islanders. As the baby boomer generation retires, the U.S. anticipates losing more than a million teachers. More than ever, talented and diverse young people are needed to play an essential role in the classroom and help reform education.
Interested in becoming a teacher? A panel of veteran educators and local musicians, including Daniel Pak of KORE IONZ and Hollis Wong-Wear of Canary Sing, will discuss their motivation for giving back. Also, learn about opportunities to enter the teaching profession as a soon-to-be college graduate.
Please RSVP for this event at: http://apiteach.eventbrite.com. Though this event is open for the public, limited and priority seating goes to college students. For more information, please contact Derek Edamura.
Sponsored by: The White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (www.aapi.gov) and the U.S. Department of Education TEACH Campaign (www.teach.gov).
